We are the pioneer of Handmade jeweled and embellished leather sandals. Each pair is designed in house by our family and 100% handmade by our talented Balinese artisans.

 

First Steps

It began with three simple styles. In 1999, Yamin Levy and his wife, Dorien, both immigrants, happened upon an opportunity to produce exquisite, handmade sandals on the Mystical Island of Bali. The original run sold out immediately, setting the company on a beautiful course of nearly two decades. Mystique now offers over 200 styles, adding collections multiple times a year. Each style is designed personally by Yamin. From minimalist and modern to bold and flashy, there is a gorgeous sandal for every kind of woman, for every occasion, and every location. 

Island of Abundance

Yamin’s connection to the Balinese people was a matter of destiny. He shares a birthday with their country, August 17, Indonesian independence day. Once the island had captured his heart, he could see no other place fit to produce the exquisite sandals he was dreaming up. Two small family-run factories have worked exclusively for Mystique in Bali since the company began. Mystique gives back to the place that has given it everything by supporting Bumi Sehat, a wonderful clinic providing healthcare to Indonesian women, as well as social and educational programs for the community.

Foundation of Craftsmanship

Balinese artisans craft every part of the Mystique sandal by hand, and each pair is made to order. The foundation is a 100 percent leather sole, lined with suede for comfort and inspired by the luxury of the world’s most exciting travel destinations. Jewelry-inspired styles are embellished with gems imported from Europe, each one sewn on by hand. 

Walking With the Gods

On the Mystical Island of Bali, there is a villa surrounded by a beautiful garden where animals roam happily and talented people collaborate freely. To many, this is paradise, but for Mystique, it is an office and warehouse. Every pair of Mystique sandals passes through here on its way to the happy feet of women around the world. 

Generous Spirit, Rich Traditions

Following in their parents’ footsteps, the Levy sisters, Danielle and Michelle, joined Mystique’s Los Angeles enterprise in 2012. In turn, a second generation of artisans has joined the production community in Bali. In two locations across the world, a sense of community continues to inspire exquisite footwear that instills a sense of adventure in every step.
